The Vibe
Welcome to Tofino the salty little surf town at the end of the road, where the rain smells like cedar and espresso is basically a food group. Whether you’re here for waves, wilderness, or just some serious unwinding, three days is all you need to fall in love with this stretch of the Pacific.
And yeah, you’re probably gonna end up at Rhino Coffee House more than once. Everyone does.
Day 1 — The Arrival Glide
Roll into town along Highway 4, winding through misty rainforest and mountain curves until the road opens wide to the sea. You’ll feel it right away that deep breath that says, you’ve arrived.
Drop your bags, stretch your legs, and wander downtown. Surf shops hum, seagulls call, and somewhere nearby, someone’s grinding beans. That’s probably Rhino. Stop in for a Latte or a Bacon Breakfast Sandwich — hot, handheld, and made for road-weary travelers.
Then hit Chesterman Beach for a walk in the tide. This is the heartbeat of Tofino soft sand, surfers on the horizon, and driftwood that looks like sculpture.
Come sunset, find your way to Cox Bay. Locals gather here to watch the sun drop straight into the Pacific. It’s not an event it’s a ritual.
Day 2 — Saltwater & Forest Trails
Morning fog curls over town like steam off a cappuccino. Grab your fuel — maybe a Maple Latte and a Cinnamon Bun — then chase the day.
If you surf, you already know: Cox Bay and Long Beach are where you want to be. If you don’t, no problem — plenty of local schools will get you standing on a board before lunch.
Prefer to keep your feet dry? Hike the Tonquin Trail — an easy loop from town that threads through rainforest and ends at a secret little cove. Bring your camera; the light here looks painted.
Afternoon’s for wandering — maybe hit the Rainforest Trail in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Giant cedars. Moss. The kind of quiet that makes you forget Wi-Fi exists.
By evening, you’ll want comfort food and something cold. Whether you eat beachside or tuck into a cozy spot in town, you’ll sleep with the sound of waves in your ears.
Day 3 — Culture, Coffee & Slow Goodbyes
No alarms. No rush. Just the rhythm of rain on the roof.
Spend your last morning at a relaxed pace — brunch downtown, maybe a stroll through the Tofino Botanical Gardens or the local galleries. If the season’s right, a quick whale-watching trip out on Clayoquot Sound is pure west-coast magic.
Before you roll out of town, swing by Rhino Coffee House for one last cup — maybe grab a Bag of Beans to take home. It’s the best kind of souvenir: drinkable.
